International Students

Do you take international students?

We welcome applications from international students. SIUC has one of the largest populations of international students of any universityies in the country.

What is the required TOEFL test score (International students only)?

We require a minimum score of 600 (paper-based test) or 250 (computer-based test). The TOEFL test must be less than two (2) years old. We require the TOEFL for all international students; the TOEFL requirement is never waived.

If I have Permanent Resident Status am I considered an international student or a domestic student?

With permanent resident status, you fall between being an international student and a domestic student. You will have to provide a copy of your passport page/s with your name and birth date. You will also need to submit a TOEFL score. You do not have to provide a Financial Statement.

How much documentation do I need to provide with the Financial Statement? (International student only)

You will need to provide documentation if, in the Sources of Funds section, you select A (Personal sources) or B (Organization furnishing financial assistance). Section C can also be selected if attending SIU is dependent on receiving an assistantship. No documentation is needed if you select Section C. You need only to select one (1) source.

Who can certify my documents?

All documents requiring certification must be certified by your university’s Registrar or Controller of Exams. Certification of documents by the U.S. Educational Foundation in certain countries is also acceptable. Please note that no other agency or person’s certification is acceptable to our Graduate School.

What if I have other questions?

You should be able to have most of your questions answered by looking at our webpage http://mcmagrad.siu.edu. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please send your inquiries to mcmagrad@siu.edu We will be happy to help you.
